Trumbo Hollow Hike in the Mountains of Virginia – October 19

Join us for a 6.6-mile mountain hike on the Appalachian Trail passing through fields, meadows, streams, and lush forest near Linden, Virginia. This outing promises some wonderful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and a beautiful view of the expansive Trumbo Hollow meadow.

With 1,055 ft. of vertical gain, this mountain hike follows some switchbacks as we ascend and delivers some wonderful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  This hike will take around 4½ hours, including lunch and breaks.  Bring plenty of water, pack a lunch, dress in layers and wear appropriate footwear.  Clouds and sprinkles will not deter us.  In case of heavy rain, we will postpone.

We will meet at 10:00 AM SHARP at the trailhead parking at the ridge on VA55 (a 1:15-hour drive from DC).  For those interested, some of us may linger afterwards for a trip to a vineyard.

RSVP for this hike by talking to Jerry Donahoe at church and providing your name(s), email address, and cell phone contact information.  And please indicate if you have additional room in your car for other passengers!
